MADISON TOWNSHIP, LACKAWANNA COUNTY
A riding stable that helps kids with disabilities needs funding to keep its programs going.
Pocono Equestrian Center works with children who have physical or mental disabilities. It teaches them to work with horses and to ride. Volunteer trainers say the kids learn confidence and responsibility.
But representatives of the center say donations have been coming in to the non-profit center much slower than in the past. Operators say they must consider cutting some programs and even the possibility of selling some of their horses. The center is also way behind on its rent at Mystic Stables in Madison Township which has been its home for the past 4 years.
Pocono Equestrian Center is holding a fund raising carnival at the American Legion in Olyphant on Saturday, March 28th from 6 till 9pm. There will be games for kids and adults as well as free food, | |
