SWIFTWATER, MONROE COUNTY- Possible teacher cuts in one Pocono School District.

Word that up to 18 teaching positions may be cut in the Pocono Mountain School
District brought out a big crowd Wednesday night.
The district is facing a declining enrollment and needs to balance a budget.
The board says furloughing some teachers would be a way to save money.
Some claim the threatened cuts are a ploy to scare people into paying higher taxes..
Just last week, parents and students packed the meeting over proposed cuts to sports and after school activities.
A decision will be made in a few weeks.
