LONG POND, MONROE COUNTY --Pocono Raceway at Long Pond is going green. Raceway officials announced today they will construct the world's largest solar project at a sports facility.

40 thousand panels will be installed on 25 acres across the street from the track. The president of the raceway, Brendan Igdalsky, told us it will create all the power the raceway needs. “With the deregulation of power here in Pennsylvania, in January we decided we needed to help ourselves the community and this is the decision we decided to make. It was going to benefit everybody."

The field will generate 3 million kilowatt hours of power a year. The $15 million solar field should be up and running by next spring.
