EAST STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY - The Pocono Snow is a semi pro soccer team in Monroe County. General Manager Derek Arneaud said, "We're still bringing soccer to the poconos and to monroe county and to every place else."

Soccer is the most popular sport in the world. But not as popular in the United States. Player Jeff Natale explained, "W e have the NHL, we have the NBA, we have Major League Baseball and of course theNFL so it's tough to fit that fifth sports group into it.

The Pocono Snow wants to change that by brining high quality soccer to the Poconos. They're currently in second place in the National Premier Soccer League. Natale said, "People should come watch us because we're the best football team in the area basically."

The team says it normally gets about 500 to 700 hundred fans at a game but they hope interest sparked by the World Cup could help fill the stands. Player Roshane Ellison said, "T hey'll watch it on tv and they'll want to come out to the stadium and see a live game." Natale added, "I hope it gets families to come out and watch some of our matches."

Arneaud said games are geared toward families, especially home games at East Stroudsburg University. He explained, "We have the bouncies and we have rock climbing, we have Rita's Italian Ice here."

They say if you go to a game you might just meet a future soccer star - perhaps one who will play in the next World Cup. Ellison smiled, "H opefully that would be my biggest dream."

The next Pocono Snow game is Sunday night at ESU.

The team is holding a meet and greet during the teamUSA game Saturday. It's at 2 P. M. At Jock and Jills sports bar in Stroudsburg.

You can meet the team mascot, get a World Cup shirt and try your chance in a raffle for Pocono Snow tickets.
