EAST STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY- With Mother's Day just around the corner, some will scramble to find just the right gift but others will struggle through a time they find difficult because their mothers have passed on.
A woman from East Stroudsburg wrote a book that she believes can bring those people some comfort.
The author calls her work a little gem about a pearl, Mattie Pearl. She took her last breath in 2004 but her daughter said she didn't die.
Andrea Garrison explained, "Physically her body is gone - but spiritually - she's still here - she lives in our hearts."
Garrison produced a book, DVD and CD about her mother's last four weeks on earth. It's called "The Crossing Over of Mattie Pearl."
"It's not about death. It is about living. It is about giving," said Garrison.
She said her mother "crossed over" to a better place. A place she says her mom got a glimpse of before she left. Garrison explained, "She talked about seeing the most beautiful flowers - and colors - colors like she had never seen before - and sounds like she had never heard."
That gives her comfort and she hopes sharing the story brings others peace.
"Since she gave me that gift - I felt that it was a story not for met to keep. But a story for me to tell," she said.
It's a story she hopes reminds readers that mothers should be treasured even more than the most precious pearl.
