Pocono murder investigation

Pocono murder investigation - Thursday, December 6, 2007 at 6:07PM EST

Thursday, Dec 6, 2007 @06:07pm EST

There is new information tonight in the case of a man found dead in the Poconos.

Police say a handgun was used to kill 22 year old Lee Vanluvender of Bartonsville.

It puts an odd twist on what can be called a very mysterious murder.

His body was found next to his jeep here in Tunkhannock township Wednesday morning.

Pocono Mountain Regional Police Departmet Leiutenant Harry Lewis says, "a lot of avenues are being investigated to whether it be an argument between hunters, or a random act of violence or if this individual's being stalked for an unknown reason."

Police say Vanluvender was shot multiple times in the head and body with a handgun.

Investigators say that seems out of the ordinary.

Lewis says, "if it was a hunting related accident it should be rifle upon rifle. However there is a handgun involved so that adds another twist in it."

Now investigators will use bullets shot from that handgun and other evidence to try to find the killer.

Vanluvender was found in a very rural part of Tunkhannock Township.

Police say many hunters frequent that area during deer season.

Patrol cars roll past the area regularly.

Lewis says a patrol officer saw Vanluvender about 30 minutes before he was shot.

Police say reward money will likely be posted, to hopefully bring the killer to justice
