COOLBAUGH TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY - Police have arrested a young woman in connection with a State Trooper's death. Officers believe she illegally purchased the gun that took Trooper Joshua Miller's life.
Police arrested 24 year old Emily Gross of New Jersey Thursday. Police say Gross was at her boyfriend Daniel Autenrieth's home in Northampton County when they served a protection from abuse order against him.
Officers explained to both Gross and Autenrieth that he was not allowed to go near his estranged wife and he was not allowed to have any weapons.
Troopers say that didn't stop Gross from buying a weapon and handing it over to Autenrieth. According to arrest papers, gross obtained her Pennsylvania Driver's License by claiming she lived at Autenrieth's address. Then just a few hours later she used that license to buy a gun. It was a 9mm semi automatic. Police say store security camera pictures show Autenrieth was with her when she bought it.
Court papers show Gross admitted she left the gun with Autenrieth and never used it herself. Police say Autenrieth used that gun to kidnap his nine year old son in June. That started a 40 mile chase through two counties that ended with a gunfight in the Poconos.
Autenrieth killed State Trooper Joshua Miller and injured State Trooper Rob Lombardo. Autenrieth also died. The boy was not hurt.
Gross now faces charges for giving her boyfriend the weapon used to kidnap a child, injure one trooper and kill another.
Court officials say Gross is free on $50,000 bail. Court workers say her father posted that bail. Gross is scheduled for a court hearing next week. | | |
