OLD FORGE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY -- Four people are facing charges after a burglary ring was busted-up in part of Lackawanna County. Police say the crooks targeted homes and businesses in Old Forge.
Amanda Heath denied all of the charges against her as she left the Old Forge police station Friday night.
Heath, along with Joseph Genell, David Hastings and another man are accused of breaking into homes and businesses across Old Forge.
Police Chief Larry Semenza said, ÒThe investigation is continuing. This was definitely a burglary ring. We think they committed all the burglaries to feed the heroin habit of the suspects."
A majority of the homes targeted were in the Hickory and Albion Street areas. Several TV's and guns were taken some of them have been recovered.
ÒEleven guns were taken. We've recovered many of the guns," added Semenza.
Police say the burglary suspects have been committing their crimes for the last three months. Investigators say one of the places they broke into was the American Legion.
The fourth burglary suspect is still on the run. He's been identified as George Mikelaitis of Tunkhannock. Police say more arrests are likely. | |
