WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY -- Police have charged a man with murder after finding a bloody scene two weeks ago outside Diablo's, an after-hours club in Plains Township. They say 23-year-old Eugene "Lamp" Davis of Wilkes-Barre stabbed and killed a 20-year-old man from Brooklyn.
"People are losing people because they want to try and be in gangs and they think it's fun," said Tanya Mazur of Wilkes-Barre. "It's not - they're hurting everybody around here"
Police asked for the public's help in finding Eugene Davis. They said he lived in an apartment building on Loomis Street, but people who live here say they've never seen Davis.
"I've lived here a year, and I've never seen that person around here at all," said Mazur. She adds she received mail in Davis's name, but she has no idea if he ever lived here. But she knows people close to the victim, Ronald Gabriel.
"I know the victim's friend," added Mazur. "Another wake to go to, another funeral to go see, and it's not fair."
As for Diablo's after-hours night club, which opens at 2am after Energy 21 closes, the realtor for Plains Plaza says she gave a 30-day eviction notice to club manager, Jimmy Sperazza, on March 24th. But Sperazza tells us, he never got one.
The local magistrate says the realtor has to wait 30 days before she can file a landlord-tenant complaint. But with appeals, the process to remove a commercial tenant can take months.
If you have any information about Davis's whereabouts, you're asked to call State Police at 697-2000 or 911.
