EDWARDSVILLE, LUZERNE COUNTY- Someone broke into a home in Edwardsville then beat up and robbed the handicapped man who lives there. Police say it happened late last night.

49-year-old John Pritchard was taken by ambulance from his Armstrong Street apartment Wednesday night minutes after police say a pair of intruders brutally beat him with his own electric guitar. Neighbors are stunned anyone would attack a physically disabled man. Neighbor John Aibukas told WBRE News, "It scares me. It's a quiet street it shouldn't happen."

Police also confiscated another guitar from the victim's home. They say the suspects took off in a dark colored SUV with $400. Authorities have a few solid leads but they haven't released any names. Chief Dave Souchick told WBRE News, “We are tracking them down as we speak now."

John Pritchard, also known as “Jack,” suffered serious head wounds. He's been treated and released from a Scranton hospital. Cops say they're now trying to track him down too. Chief Souchick added, "We're still in investigating stages as to why. We didn't get a chance to talk to victim to say why it took place. Does he know why it took place?"

When asked if it was drug related Chief Souchick responded, “That we do not know. We need to talk to victim and catch up with the suspects."

Neighbors hope police solve the crime and catch the criminals. Timothy Kennedy is one of those neighbors and said, "You know what I'm saying. It's really getting crazy around here.”
