SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- The investigation continues into a late night shooting in West Scranton. One victim is in the hospital in critical condition, while a second man suffered only minor injuries. Police questioned several people, but have not been able to find any suspects.

Sunday night, police lights and sirens lit-up the 700-block of north Main Avenue in Scranton. Monday afternoon the scene was much quieter, but people are on edge as they talked about what they heard. Neighbor Susan Stadolny said, “There was four gunshots and naturally you go out to see where it came from and there were 10 or 12 police cars out in the front and several ambulances."

Police say two men forced themselves into this home just after 9:30 and shot one man in the buttocks. A second man suffered an injury to the back of his neck. Neighbor Jo Marie Yamin said, “I'm very concerned. It’s always been a very nice neighborhood. Kids are always out and about. It’s just disturbing."

Police have not released a possible motive for the shooting. Neighbors say the two men who lived in the building were young. They think drugs may have been involved. We need more police instead of other things in this city. The money is not being distributed well," added Yamin.

James Backus has lived in the neighborhood 15 years. He's confident cops will get the suspects. “Let them do their investigation and they'll find out who the perpetrators are," he said.

In the meantime, after Sunday’s violence, neighbors say they'll take a proactive approach to prevent any further problems in this part of west side. Neighbor Susan Stadolny said, We had a little neighborhood meeting on my porch and we discovered that we all knew a lot of things about the young men who lived next door, but we didn't get together as a neighborhood, but in the future, we're going to do that."

The names of the two people who were hurt have still not been released. Anyone who may have information on Sunday night's shooting should call Scranton Police.
