MOORE TOWNSHIP, NORTHAMPTON COUNTY - A police officer in Northampton County is recovering after being hit by his own squad car Sunday morning.

Investigators say officer Brandon Schippers was hurt while responding to a call just before 6:30 AM in Moore Township. That's just over the Monroe County line. According to court papers, suspect John Zeiner was high on heroin when he got into the police cruiser and put it in drive.

The car hit Officer Schippers causing injuries to his right leg and both hands. Zeiner was later caught and charged with several different crimes.

Officer Schippers is recovering at home in Northampton County.
