Police Officer Pulls Teen From River - Sunday, May 10, 2009 at 10:35PM EST
MOOSIC, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- Friends enjoying the day along a Lackawanna County waterway got quite a scare when one of them fell into the frigid water.
18-year-old Iris Webb of Taylor fell into Spring Brook Creek near the Moosic Youth Center around 5:00 P. M. Sunday.
The water's current pulled her to the bordering Lackawanna River toward Old Forge. She was in the river for at least 10 minutes before police rescued here. Moosic Police Officer Jason Jarecki said, "Officer Dubernas from the Old Forge Police Department spotted the female in the river and at that time Officer Dubernas swam across the river and rescued her."
Webb was alert and appeared uninjured. An ambulance took her to Scranton CMC to get checked out. | |
