Police Standoff in Schuylkill Co. Lasts 6 Hours - Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at 07:36AM EST
SCHUYLKILL COUNTY- A 6-hour armed standoff in Schuylkill County ended Tuesday night with tear gas and a surrender.
It started around 4:00 P. M. Tuesday in East Brunswick Township. State Police were about to search the home of 43-year-old Clint Richard Parks. Parks then allegedly fired a gun.
The standoff lasted until about 10:00 P. M. A police CERT team was able to get Parks out of the house by using tear gas.
Trooper Edward Maloney commented on how the CERT team managed the situation. "When the special emergency team comes in it's a very methodical way of doing thing. They are specially trained. They want to resolve each incident peacefully with nobody getting hurt,” he said.
Several neighbors were evacuated but have been allowed back in their homes. Parks faces a number of charges. | |
