Pool Store Badly Damaged by Fire - Saturday, November 8, 2008 at 9:41PM EST

MAYFIELD, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- A State Police Fire Marshal is looking for the cause of a blaze that damaged a business late Friday night in Lackawanna County.

The fire started just before 11:00 P. M. inside Crystal Clear Pools on the Scranton / Carbondale Highway in Mayfield. No one was hurt but the fire did a lot of damage inside the business.

Investigators say the fire could have been much worse because the pool store had chemicals stored inside. Mayfield Fire Chief Joseph Tomcavage said, “It could have been disastrous if it started, if the fire progressed a little longer undiscovered, if it did get in those chemicals. Once they started mixing, then you could have had an explosive factor."

There is no word on when the business may reopen in Lackawanna County.
