POTTSVILLE, SCHUYLKILL COUNTY- C onstruction for the intermodal facility in Pottsville is at it's halfway point. It will be the meeting point for pottsville public transportation.

Audrey Brahler of Pottsville says seeing the construction progress is a big boost for the city.

Brahler said, "It's putting a lot of people to work and it will be a transportation hub."

That's the goal says Pottsville city administrator Thomas Palamar. He says the project is two months ahead of schedule. When finished, public and chartered buses will leave from here along with taxi's.

Blue Mountain Reading Railroad will also run tourism rides from the facility.

Palamar said, "It's a long time in the making. The county and the city have been working on this for quite some time, probably about seven or eight years. so to see it finally taking shape and culminating is really exciting."

While this intermodal facility is being constructed, blighted properties sitting next to the site were knocked down to make way.

This project will likely be finished under the projected cost.

The intermodal was supposed to cost 18 million dollars but Palamar says it's being built for 16 million instead.

Palamar says if construction continues on time, the intermodal facility will open December 22nd of this year.
