POTTSVILLE. SCHUYLKILL COUNTY-The Schuylkill YMCA has big plans for the old national guard armory here on Centre Street in Pottsville.
Wayne Stump, the Schuylkill YMCA Executive Director, tells WBRE "Having the building, we have a home. We have a sign out front in downtown Pottsville. People know now where the YMCA is."

A fresh coat of finish was laid on the new basketball court this week.
By the end of the year, a fitness and teen center. YMCA offices will move in too.
State Sen. James Rhoades says "They are such an intrical part of the community and they can do so much for the community. I thought this is such a worthwhile program."
Plans are also in the works to turn the old Pine Grove Elementary in Tremont into a new YMCA Center.
Back at the Pottsville building, some things are almost ready to go.
The coat on the floor here will be finished this Saturday. Then, this blue tape will come down and Schuylkill's Biddy basketball program will start using the court. And you can play pick up games."
And the YMCA hopes the new building will "pick up" the community.
It will only charge 3 dollars to get in and use this court for about a year.
