POCONO PINES, MONROE COUNTY - As we learn more about the devastation in Haiti we hear about all sorts of unique charity efforts. Now even some of the youngest people in our area want to pitch in.

Kids from Wee Wons preschool mix cookie dough with some elbow grease to bake for charity and learn life lessons. Preschooler Asia Morales said, "We're doing this for Haiti." Little Ethan McGough added, "The buildings all fall down...and the people got hurt."

Teacher Betty Ilyas told her students about the disaster. She said, "I shared it with them and they were very saddened by the news."

Vincent Castaldo said he was sad because, "They got boo boos."

The kids thought up a way to help. They planned a bake sale and made dozens of cookies.

The kids wanted to eat all the cookies they made but they didn't. They resisted because they know these are going to a good cause. "So we can get money for Haiti," explained Dominick Castaldo. His brother Vincent said the Haitians will use the money to "Buy clothes and medicine."

They baked lessons of love by showering cookies with sprinkles and sprinkling charity across the globe. Ilyas said, "To be that empathetic that young - those are the kind of adults we want in the world."

The bake sale is Friday from 7:20 a. m. through 6 p. m. It's at the Wee Wons Pre School on Route 940 in Pocono Pines.
