President's Day: Revisiting Stops Made In Region On Obama Campaign Trail - Monday, February 15, 2010 at 6:33PM EST

An ordinary day the Avenue Diner in Wyoming turned into one still talked about up until now. It was a September day on the campaign trail for the then Democratic candidate Barack Obama as he surprised everyone working and eating the the diner. The owner got 15 minutes notice, before Current President Obama walked into the eatery. He stayed for an hour, ate half a piece of bananna creme pie, and talked with customers there. Owner Len Krappa says bananna creme pie was a hot seller for about nine months, and business really surged.
There was yet another business Obama went to that day. It was Schott Glass in Duryea.
He also visited the Dunmore Community Center in Lackawanna County, among a few other local stops during his campaign.
But, those at the Avenue Diner say none were more sweet than the visit to the Wyoming staple.
