WAYMART, WAYNE COUNTY- Workers at the State Correctional Institution at Waymart have collected boxes of personal care and entertainment items for troops serving in Iraq and Afgahanistan.

The employees say the effort is very close to their hearts since many of their co-workers are National Guard members who are now serving, or did serve, in those countries.

They began collecting donations for the soldiers in December and expect to ship their packages this week. The boxes contain personal hygiene items, playing cards, books, CD's and DVD's. Committee members at SCI Waymart also sell T-shirts and have fund raising events to cover the shipping costs for their packages.
