COAL TOWNSHIP, NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY - After nearly a year-long investigation, a state prisoner in Northumberland County has been charged with assaulting a guard.

State Police say the attack happened in November 2006, when officer Russell Dalton was hurt while on duty at SCI Coal Township. After an intense investigation, troopers say he was assaulted by inmate David March.

March has been charged with aggravated harassment and disorderly conduct in Northumberland County.
