WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY - A problem property in Wilkes-Barre had a date with the wrecking ball Saturday afternoon.
WYOU News was there as a bulldozer finished demolishing an empty house at 30 South Welles Street. Neighbors say the building has been vacant for years and has been known to attract partiers, small children and even rodents.
The house is being torn down by city leaders, who want to revitalize the area. Neighbors are thrilled.
"I came home yesterday and it was coming down and I'm just thrilled. I'm thrilled. Thank you Mr. Mayor," neighbor Wade Kresge said.
Neighbors say the demolition work was finished by late Saturday afternoon. | |
