WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY- It doesn't look like much now, but Wilkes-Barre will soon have 21 condominiums on the second and third floors of a Northampton Street building.
It's called "Elevations Lofts on Main."
President and C. E.O. of the Wilkes-Barre's Chamber of Commerce Todd Vonderhied said, "Not much, quite frankly, has been done since the late 70's. Putting the 21 units on line is the first residential work in downtown since early 70's."
Four of the condos have been reserved.
They range in price from $119,000 to $255,000.
Wilkes-Barre Mayor Tom Leighton said, "I'm very confident with the economy that these units will be sold at a rather quick pace, given the need for residential units in downtown. More importantly, it means more people, good people in the downtown will go to the movies and shops that have opened up."
One of those shops is Januzzi's Pizza.
It moved there from South Wilkes-Barre last year.
Jessica Januzzi, from Januzzi's Pizza said, "We're really thrilled to have more people downtown, we've been waiting for people to move upstairs. We think it will be great to have people and their friends being around. It could be very quiet during the week down here at night." | |
