PROMPTON, WAYNE COUNTY -- Firefighters in part of Wayne County are now better prepared for any type of emergency they may face.

Congressman Chris Carney recently helped the Prompton Fire Company get nearly $50,000. The money is being used for new radios and new gear for 20 firefighters.

This is the first grant the department has ever received from the federal government. Derek Felsman says, Our strategic plan is to ensure that our firefighters are kept safe, in which is two-fold. It also ensures they are prepared, willing and able, 24/7 to respond to emergencies in our community."

This is the first time in ten years the Prompton Fire Company has gotten new gear. They recently also invested in a new fire truck.
