WEST HAZLETON, LUZERNE COUNTY- Accidents follow after yesterday’s snow and slush freeze solid. A tanker carrying propane hit ice and rolled over at the Valmont Industrial Park in West Hazleton.
It happened around 9:15 Thursday morning along Kiwanis Boulevard. The West Hazleton Fire Chief tells us the driver of the tanker was heading into the industrial park when he hit an icy patch. The truck apparently did a 180 and rolled over.
Of course, propane is highly flammable but the fire crews immediately checked levels, and said there was no leak.
The tow trucks were taking their time getting the truck upright in order to not cause a leak. The fire chief says they have an emergency plan in place if there was a leak, but no area businesses were evacuated. We caught up with one driver who came up on the accident.
Nobody was hurt in the accident. The driver of the tanker got himself out. The fire chief expects everything to be cleaned up by early afternoon.
