SHAWNEE ON DELAWARE, MONROE COUNTY-- Some pros turned out at the Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort in Monroe County.
Former football and baseball players were among 80 golfers who teed off Tuesday.
All the money raised is going to the Pocono Family YMCA in Stroudsburg.
Many people depend on the YMCA for childcare and summer camp services.
Former Mets Pitcher Dwight Gooden says he's glad to help because the cash helps kids.
Gooden said, "I think its very important to give them a chance to accomplish their goals in life and a positive outlook."
Former Giants player Al Dixson said, "We all grew up in communities. If it wasn't for the YMCA many of us would not be participating and done what we have done."
YMCA officials rely on events like this because their funds are running low.
Their policy is to not turn anyone away who doesn't have the means to pay. | | |
