WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY- The Rainbow Alliance of Northeast Pennsylvania and GayNEPA. com hosted PrideFest Sunday in Wilkes-Barre's Kirby Park.
There were all sorts of booths and activities for people to celebrate their communities. For years the groups have held summer picnics. This is the first time in several years that they've had a full blown festival.
Hundreds of people went - including protesters. Protester Greg Jacobs from Stroudsburg said, "I used to be in their shoes. I used to live like them. But Jesus set me free."
Maria Lora of Scranton said, "We'd like to live and love just like everyone else and be accepted just like everyone else."
Things got a little heated but they didn't turn violent. Police kept the protesters on the edge of the celebration.
