Protesting Pump Prices

Protesting Pump Prices - Monday, March 31, 2008 at 7:38PM EST

WILKES-BARRE -- 100 plus truckers convoy to Harrisburg in an effort to convince lawmakers to address the issue of rising diesel prices.

As of March 31st the average price of diesel fuel in Pennsylvania is $4.33 per gallon. The 38.1 cent tax per gallon in the keystone state is the highest in the nation. Truckers hope to convince state lawmakers to reduce the 13 cent portion of the tax Pennsylvania receives.

Some in the trucking industry say a protest is not enough and that an organized strike across the nation by truckers is the only way to force lawmakers to act on the high fuel prices. Would a strike work? Would people support the truckers while the costs of food and goods escalate?

WYOU Interactive discusses the issue with Todd Spencer from the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association and Bob Bolus from Bolus Trucking.
