WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY --PPL customers will have a chance to speak directly with officials from one of two electricity suppliers offering service in the PPL service territory. Direct Energy is holding a public meeting about energy choice at the Quality Inn, 880 Kidder Street in Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday, December 8 at 10am. Cory Byzewski, VP and General Manager of Direct Energy, will be on hand to answer questions.
Beginning January 1, PPL electric rates will increase by nearly 30% because state-imposed rate caps are expiring. Through deregulation, customers can now choose their electricity supplier. Direct Energy and Dominion Energy Solutions are both offering discounts to PPL customers who switch.
Even if you switch to a new provider PPL will still bill you, maintain power lines, and respond to emergencies.
