An overnight fire in Luzerne County kills a mother and daughter.

48 year old Nancy Kostelnick and her 23 year

old daughter, Caroline Kostelnick, were trapped in their burning Wilkes-Barre home.

Neighbors and family members like George Kostelnick are reflecting on their life.

Kostelnick says, "I'm broken about this, they're good people.

The Chester Street house caught fire at 2, but the father, Joe Kostelnick, got out safely.

Former neighbors like Joe Brawley say, "It's a shame, it's a shame. A lot of memories in that house, that's all I can say."

Questions surround how the fire started.

Luzerne County district attorney Jackie Musto Carroll says, "We're not giving any official ruling at this point because there's still some matters we need to look in to. So we don't want to prematurely put any information out there."

Investigators were on the scene when this man showed up, saying he was Nancy Kostelnick's fiancé.

Neighbors say he lived at the house off an on.

Neighbors also tell us he was arguing with the Kostelnicks outside the house late last night.

He was questioned by police, but no charges have been filed against anyone.

We asked the district attorney if anyone was in custody Monday afternoon.

Musto Carroll said, “I have no comments on that."

Now a neighborhood will wait to hear what's next.

Neighbor Christine Ference says, "Yes, it's very sad because easter time. It's very, very sad."

Autopsies are scheduled for Tuesday morning.
