LONG POND, MONROE COUNTY - A man directing traffic won't get paid. Neither will some boys selling programs. But no one seems to mind. Peggy Vosper smiled, "We love coming out here to do it!"

That's because they're volunteers. While they don't get paid directly, the track gives money to the organizations they represent. Last year the Follow Me Foundation food pantry collected three thousand dollars. They got a portion of the proceeds from the souvenir booths they worked.

Some Boy Scouts from Scranton expect to get $1,000 for working the program booth. Scout KoryKlatt said, "It goes into our boy scouts accounts and that helps us go to like summer camp and all the things like that."

Other volunteers include Walmart workers w ho are scanning tickets to raise money for Camp Victory. It's a camp for children who have disabilities. Vosper explained, "They can be with children who have the same disabilities and they feel normal and they get to meet the race car drivers and drive race cars."

Some people are raising money for their churches. Jim Spinola is from Cherry Valley United Methodist Church. He said, "We get to meet people here and we tell them what group we're from."

In addition they get free race passes. Jenni Himelright from the Follow me Foundation said, "We come up for the weekend and we get to bring our kids so we don't have to pay for anything. So it's a nice weekend for our kids."

A nice weekend for some fun -- and fund-raising.
