DICKSON CITY, LACKAWANNA COUNTY - A local radio station is doing its part to help the needy this Thanksgiving. Froggy 101 held its annual 'Thanks for Giving' food drive at the WalMart Supercenter in Dickson City.

A steady stream of food began to pile up by early Friday afternoon. Dozens of listeners brought bags of items to help their neighbors.

"We have enough to get us through Thanksgiving so we feel that with the economy down there are some people who don't and we wanted to give them back what we have," Kristin McNamara of Olyphant said.

Pebbles Whalen and her son Casey of Dallas also came to donate. The food drive was a teaching moment for them.

"Especially with the little one, I tell him we're sharing with people who don't have the money to get the food so he likes the idea of sharing," Whalen said.

This is the ninth year for the Froggy 101 food drive. All of the money collected will be donated to the Weinberg Food Bank.

Members of the Froggy 101 staff say they could not have been happier by all the donations.

"Northeast PA's an amazing place because we have a lot of thankful people here and very giving too because they've been stopping by and dropping off food," Selena from 'The Doc Show' said.

James Bryon, a cab driver from McCarthy's Cab Company in Scranton, even took a few seconds to make a donation in between calls.

"I listen to Froggy all the time. It's for a good cause and anything they do I always try to donate to help them," Bryon said.

The food drive will last until 7:00 PM in Lackawanna County.
