HAZLETON, LUZERNE COUNTY -- A rally Saturday afternoon in Luzerne County took on illegal immigration.
A protest at Hazleton City Hall was one of several tea party rallies held in several states. People showed their opposition to proposals for national immigration law.
"Voice of the People USA" organized the event. Its founder, Dan Smeriglio says the immigration issue is not about race.
ŅIt's not a race issue. And for those who use that against us, constantly, consistently, they have no argument. They're tired, they're old and they're pathetic. An illegal immigrant is someone who bleeds our towns, bleeds our county, bleeds our state, bleeds our country, and takes advantage of everything America has to offer. A nation built by immigrants," he said.
