POTTSVILLE, SCHUYLKILL COUNTY- Monday was the last day to sign up to vote in November's Presidential Election. Eyewitness News was in Schuylkill County where a steady stream of people filed into the Voter Registration Office.

Meet Chris Bretz of Pottsville. With pen in hand he came to the Voter Registration Office in Schuylkill County with only one mission on Monday. “I just want to make sure I'm registered to vote for the Presidential Election, to make sure I get my opinion out there,” he said.

Bretz just turned 28. He says this year's election is the most important in his life. “With all the stuff in Washington, finances, the market, it’s important to get someone in office that's going to do something," he added.

As potential voters called with questions, other newly registered voters spilled into the hallways to complete all their forms. Jessica Saulnier from Auburn said, “I'm actually still undecided on who to vote for. I'm unsure. I'm leaning towards Obama because of taxes.”

Across the state there are now a record 8.5 million registered voters in Pennsyvlania. Monday was one of the biggest registration days on record in Schuylkill County.

Director of Voter Education Elizabeth Dries said, “The door has opened and closed more than I think I think it’s opened in four years.”

Officials hope the interest in voting doesn't decrease after November 4th, but figure unfortunately that may be the case.
