DANVILLE, MONTOUR COUNTY - After a 21-hour live broadcast from the Janet Weis Children's Hospital in Danville, a new fundraising record was set for the annual Children's Miracle Network celebration.
Thanks to the generous donations of people in northeastern and central Pennsylvania, WYOU-TV viewers and sponsors contributed a total of $1,795,915.00. That is a new record. Combined with our celebration partners in two other TV markets, Altoona ($576,329) and Binghamton ($134,031), the total amount of money raised was $2,506,275.00.
Children's Miracle Network at Geisinger helps make miracles happen every day at Janet Weis Children's Hospital, Geisinger Wyoming Valley and Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre and more than 40 medical groups and outreach clinics throughout the entire region. All of the money raised over the weekend will stay locally and will help to booster patient care and services.
The 2008 celebration was a milestone for the Children's Miracle Network, as it celebrated its silver anniversary. WYOU-TV has been a proud broadcast partner for the last 10 years. The staff of WYOU-TV would like to thank our generous viewers for opening your hearts and wallets. We encourage everyone to send in your pledges as soon as possible. | |
