SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY -- People who struggle with mental and physical disabilities got a helping hand Sunday in Scranton.
The Deutsch Institute held its annual celebrity champagne brunch at St. Mary's Center. Hundreds of families and individuals showed up to enjoy everything from eggs to hash browns to waffles.
Eyewitness News anchor and reporter Mark Hiller helped out again this year manning the bacon station while morning weather anchor Kristi Capel served-up sausage.
The institute was counting on raising thousands of dollars for its clients. Honorary Chairman Michael Kelly said, "The Deutsch provides services and recreational services to people with special needs and they do a wonderful job at that and they're kind of an unsung hero in our city."
Even Santa Claus showed up for the celebrity brunch. Organizers say this yearŐs crowd was the biggest in the 30-year history of the Deutsch Institute. | |
