SOUTH ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- A rare sight Thursday morning at in South Abington Township as a Black Hawk helicopter landed
there.
The arrival of the Army chopper was
in honor of the school's third annual Chaplaincy Emphasis Event. Recruiters from
the , , and are on campus for two days. They're
showing off equipment like the U.S. Navy flight simulator and talking with the
students about possible careers in the service as chaplains.
Director of Seminary Admissions Paul
Golden explained "We believe there is such a thing as a just war. And certainly this war against Islamic
terrorism is a just war. So we need chaplains there as spiritual guides and
spiritual resources to our men and women serving in uniform. That's what the
armed forces are doing here on campus. If chaplains can be that spiritual
support for the men and women on the front lines of this war on terrorism, we
certainly support that."
Ten Baptist Bible College students are already involved in
military chaplaincy service programs.
