SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- They're seeing red in Scranton
It's all to help kids stay drug free"...
The "2009 " kicked off on Courthouse Square in Scranton today
Students from Mid-Valley high school and north pocono decorated lamp posts with red bows...
They want to push the message that drugs and alcohol are bad for young people.
Senior Jeremy Ferguson a North Pocono Senior told us "Its just real important to spread the word on what we're trying to do -- that its important to stay drug free. Its a real problem today in society because kids think its cool."
"We do a lot of events at school" adds Katie Chowanec, a senior at Mid Valley High School. "We have a turn your back on drugs day and we wear our shirts backwards and many other events we do..."
Eight-thousand red ribbons are expected to be handed out as part of the red ribbon campaign in Lackawanna County. | |
