SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY
A long line began to form more than two hours before the Scranton Salvation Army opened its doors Monday morning. It was the first day to register for the agency's Christmas Assistance Program.
The Salvation Army provides toys and food baskets for families who need assistance for the holiday.
Nearly a thousand children received gifts in 2007. The demand for assistance is expected to grow this year.
The Salvation Army will continue its registration drive in Scranton through Friday, October 10th. | |
