Reinhardt Arrested for Allegedly Killing Man While Drunk - Friday, February 27, 2009 at 5:52PM EST

STROUD TOWNSHIP - Police say Daryl Reinhardt was driving drunk when she killed a man named Darrin Brown. He was 36 years old. It allegedly happened at the intersection of Shafer's Schoolhouse Road and route 611 in Stroud Township last October.
Police say Brown was walking along the road on an area for pedestrians, when Reinhardt swerved up the embankment and smashed into him.

Reinhardt's attorney Jim Swetz said he hasn't seen the accident report. He said, "The Commonwealth has taken several months to compile it. I'm anxious to take a look at it and when I do then I'll be able to comment."

Eyewitness News spoke to the victim's ex wife Wendy Brown. She said, "When you drink that much and get your keys and get in your car, you're guilty."

Wendy and Darrin married in Georgia many years ago. They had a child but later divorced and fell out of touch. Darrin's friends in the Poconos said he was just getting his life together to go back to his family when he died. Wendy said she was looking forward to the reunion. She sighed, "Why, why couldn't we find each other before this happened?"

Now the new future she hoped for is gone and she is left alone with a 13 year old son. She said, "He wears his dad's clothes to school, he carries his wallet, anything he's got of his dad's he has."

Wendy said she hopes her story will help remind people that alcohol and driving can be a deadly combination.

Reinhardt is free on $25,000 unsecured bail. She has a preliminary court hearing scheduled for March.
