HONESDALE, WAYNE COUNTY- A special night of remembrance for a special woman.
Susan Bates was a friend of Lisa., "What a wonderful woman she was. So friendly. Always smiling. Just...She was great."
Family friends gathered at the fountain at Honesdale's Central Park, each with a candle to light and surround the fountain in her honor.
"Lisa was a waitress at our restaurant and she was a very sweet, kind person and would do anything for you." adds Susan Hiller.
Lisa Cronin was a victim of domestic violence. Shot and killed by her husband inside their Texas Township home while two of their five kids were inside at the time. It happened a year ago.
"I think there has to be more awareness," says Hiller, "More of it and like the people that are victims have to know that they really can count on somebody and it has to be really brought to their attention. You have to feel secure about stuff.
More than "200" people showed up in Lisa's honor tonight. All with a special memory of a woman taken too soon for all the wrong reasons. But a woman who left a lasting memory for those who knew her.
"She always thought of somebody else." says friend Trudy Derrick. " She was always giving. You never knew what was going on at home. She was a very special person and no one knew what was going on at home. "
Organizers sold those candles for five dollars to raise money for the domestic violence victim's intervention program in Wayne County
