LEHMAN TOWNSHIP, PIKE COUNTY - People and dogs on the ground - a police helicopter in the air. Hour after hour after hour they searched for John Lester in Lehman Township, Pike County.

"Hopefully if they find him things will work out," said his friend Karen Marks.

Lester is 54 years old. He was recently diagnosed with diabetes and needs a walker or cane to get around. Lester lives with Marks. She last saw him on Tuesday afternoon. He went to listen to music in his car. When she checked on him later he was gone but his cane and walker were still there.

"I just hope that he's alive and well and that if he is, please call me," cried Marks.

Police started a search in the Winona Lakes development Wednesday evening. The brought in 8 search and rescue teams. 36 hours later, Lester was still missing.

His friends, like Carol Campbell tried to stay strong. She said, "We don't know if he's still alive or just hurting somewhere laying. It's just terrible."

Search crews hope to find him alive but with the bitter cold and rough terrain in the woods along the Saw Creek it could take a miracle.

"I would not be optimistic of that if he fell in the creek that he would be able to come out," said Bushkill Fire Chief Leon Prince Jr.

But Marks tries to stay optimistic that the volunteers can deliver a miracle. "I hope to God you find him alive," she said.

Prince added, "Hopefully we can find the gentleman and return him safely to his family."

Lester is 54 years old. Five feet eight inches tall. He weighs 135 pounds. He has brown eyes and brown hair. He was last seen wearing a short blue jacket, green flannel shirt, white sweatpants and tan work boots.

Anyone with information should call 570-226-5718.
