SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- A popular downtown Scranton restaurant reopened for business Monday just three days after fire damaged a section of the "Old Laundry Building" in which its located. A gift shop, the Crazy Pineapple, was also open for business.
The fire on Friday sent huge clouds of smoke throughout the neighborhood. A firewall and a wind blowing from south to north protected the business from damage. Only a slight odor of smoke could be detected.
The story was different at the nearby "Banshee Restaurant and Pub." Smoke from the fire drifted into that establishment which had to close its doors and discard some food and equipment. It remained closed throughout the day on Monday.
