Rhoades Re-Elected, Referendum Passes - Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at 10:11AM EST

And the late incumbent Republican James Rhoades was overwhelmingly reelected posthumously in the 29th District. Rhoades died in a car crash last month.

A special election will be held prior to next May’s primary to determine a successor.

And Pennsylvania voters overwhelmingly approved a referendum for the state to borrow 400-million dollars. The money will be used to repair and upgrade water and sewer systems.

That includes getting sewage plants along the Susquehanna River to meet federal standards for discharge into the Chesapeake Bay.

The money will also help curb storm water runoff and reduce pollution and environmental effects of farm chemicals.
