River Common opens this weekend

Construction workers are putting the finishing touches on the River Common in Wilkes-Barre .
The mult-million dollar project will open June 19 th during the Wyoming Valley Riverfest.
Luzerne County Flood Protection Authority Executive Director Jim Brozena said, “I just want to see the foaces on the people when they see what we have here and the pride that hopefully comes out of them in what their communities are becoming.”
After this weekend’s Riverfest, the River Common will shut down from the Luzerne County courthouse to the Market Street bridge.
Workers will finish construction on that portion of the River Common, but the stretch from the Market Street bridge to the Dorth Dickson Darte Center will remain open. | | |
