Loyalsock Township, Lycoming County-
Twenty-two interpretive signs along the West Branch Susquehanna River Trail were rededicated Wednesday.
The signs are in place to inform the public of the five vital eras of the region’s rich lumber heritage.
They were originally installed six years ago, but the wooden frames and fiberglass insert panels deteriorated quickly over time.
Susquehanna Greenway Partnership Executive Director Gary Bloss said, “It’s all about telling stories, and certainly the lumber heritage story is one of the important stories on the West Branch. These are all important aspects in terms of developing the whole greenway resource.”
Officials believe the historical recognition will help promote recreational tourism and future economic development. | |
