EDWARDSVILLE, LUZERNE COUNTY- With reports of shots fired and a victim struck by gunfire, the Luzerne County Coroner would only say that human remains had been found along the Susquehanna riverbank Thursday evening. Coroner John Corcoran wouldn't comment on a number of theories surrounding the discovery of a body near railroad tracks near Kirby Park.
Emergency responders had to hike up the dike, down a path and along a rocky railroad bed to reach the scene where the remains were initially discovered.
A police source told WBRE News it was too early to comment on potential circumstances.
Corcoran said an autopsy would be scheduled Friday afternoon at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
