PITTSTON TWP., LUZERNE COUNTY -- A troubled train trestle is forcing a road to be closed in Luzerne County.

The township closed Market Street Tuesday morning as a train trestle running over the road continues to crumble.

Eyewitness News showed you the problem in Pittston Township Friday. That's when Pittston Township supervisors said there's trouble with the Market Street train trestle.

The trestle was built decades ago. It has seen a lot of train traffic and wear and tear and its beginning to crumble.
Pittston Township Zoning Officer Terry Best says he sent pictures and emails to Reading and Northern Railroad Company Friday morning. Best is fearing the worst - a derailment.

The township supervisors said Friday if the railroad doesn't step in and correct the problems they may condemn the trestle. Eyewitness News calls to Reading and Northern Railroad were not returned.
