Big shake-up in the Lackawanna County stadium authority.

Wednesday afternoon Lackawanna County commissioner Robert Cordero was voted off the board.

This on the heels of his losing his re-election bid for commissioner.

He wasn't at the meeting today, but it didn't matter.

Fellow board members unanimously voted him out.

Lackawanna County stadium authority board member Bill Jenkins said, "as he leaves office, i think it's time the board took the authority back on it's own, if you will and make the decisions on it's on without mr. Cordero being an influence."

At it's meeting at the Lackawanna County office building, the stadium authority said Cordero's job was done.

Board members say Cordero was the negotiating agent between Manadalay Baseball Enterprises, and the Yankees.

When asked if the move had anything to do with Cordero not being re-elected as commissioner..board member Bill Jenkins said this:

"i think it's a combination of both i mean i think he had concluded the negotiations with mandalay and the yankees. He will be moving on a private citizen."

Board member Anthony Lomma asked that Cordero be kept on at least until his term as commissioner was up, on January 7th.

But in the end, he voted Cordero out.

Lomma said, “the functions that he was to representus on have been completed, it's done. But he's still acting commissioner until january 7th. I mean, whether it's today or january 7th, i don't see any difference."

While Cordero was voted out, the board, as a whole, thanked him for his service.

Especially his efforts in keeping the Scranton Wilkes-Barre Yankees in the area.

Board members tell me that appointing a new member of the stadium board will be up to commissioners Washo, O'brien, and Munchak.

No timetable yet as to when they have to do that.
