WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY- Runners and walkers took advantage of Sunday's great weather to be part of a Luzerne County fundraiser.
More than 100-people descended on Kirby Park for the 3rd Annual Parker Palermo Memorial 5k Run/Walk.
The event is named in memory of a former King's College cross country runner who graduated in 2003 and died suddenly just 3-years later.
Dogs were also part of the event. That's because Palermo loved animals and hoped to be a veterinarian some day.
Organizer Mike Kolinovsky said, "Took in animals of all kinds. Lambs, dogs, chickens -- any kind -- he would nurse them back to health. He was a great guy, a very giving person. So we're here to memorialize him."
Proceeds from the run/walk benefit the 4 Paws Spay and Neuter Program in Wilkes-Barre. | |
